Emu Egg Info Emu Magic Emu Farm offers quality blown emu eggs, free of noticeable imperfections, at reasonable prices. Since we buy and sell eggs from local farms, we usually have eggs available year round. A 1/4" to 3/8" hole is drilled in the large end in order to empty contents. The egg is then cleaned and disinfected using water, dishwashing liquid and household bleach. Emu eggs are normally emerald green in color and measure, in the neighborhood of, six inches long by four inches wide. The texture of the shell may vary from rough to relatively smooth, depending upon the hen and her genetic background. Egg carvers are partial to the emu egg because of it's shell construction. It is made up of three layers: (1) A thin white inner layer, (2) a thicker aqua middle layer, ranging from light to darker aqua and (3) an emerald green outer layer. Emu Egg Info
